Meet the Doctor

Joyce Cundiff, D.C.

Welcome! As a Doctor of natural health and wellness with an emphasis in chiropractic care, it is a pleasure to be able to bring health care to you and your family.

How did I get here? Well, I originally grew up in Texas and earned my Bachelors in Health Education and Promotion in Public Health. I had a huge urge to further study epidemiology (the study of disease), though, as life would have it, other plans were under way for me. It was always a dream to help others in their healing journey. The world was a big place and healthcare at times felt even bigger. After graduating from Texas Women's University, I moved to India for 4 years, where I gave birth to my first son. Then, moved again to Oman (in the Middle East) for 5 years, where I gave birth to my second son.

Through my experience abroad and taking care of my children, I began to realize the gap in the healthcare system, and believe me, it is the same everywhere! The patient-doctor relationship was a one way street, "doctors know best". As a parent, I am fully (and painfully) aware how important it is to have someone educate you, as a patient, and empower you, as a human being, to make your own health decisions. Having a doctor listen to your needs and help guide you into optimal health. The patient - doctor relationship is (should be) long lasting, communicative, and respectful.

After experiencing this first hand, I knew I wanted to further my education in natural and holistic healing. I definitely had a lot to offer and wanted to be able to provide the kind of care I would expect for myself and my children. Wanting to fulfill this need, I moved to Minnesota with my children and began my Chiropractic Journey at NWHSU. After much dedicated time to the profession, I am now pleased to offer my knowledge and services to the community and their families!

On a more personal note: I grew up in the small town of Argyle, Texas which had a more slow lifestyle feel to the town and in general. Like most small towns, school sports is a big part of life. So, it was only natural to develop a passion for a certain sport; mine was playing soccer. I loved the agility and forethought needed in this long winded sport. Playing soccer from a 6th grade and into my first year of college - I learned a lot along the way in movement, agility, and conditioning.

In addition to my passion for soccer, I fell in love with classical ballet and was taught at the Denton Ballet Academy. Anyone who dances, or has children in dance programs, knows how strict this sport is and definitely teaches respect, stature, and grace. The dedication it took for this, taught me about how important small adjustments in body movement can change the whole expression and dynamic of body flow. Overall, deepening my understanding of body biomechanics and movement; feeding my passion to learn more about health and movement in all stages of life!

When Dr. Joyce is not working, she is out exploring all that the north has to offer in Minnesota with her two sons! They love car trips to find new unexplored hiking trails and coffee shops (and sometimes candy shops). She loves supporting small businesses and looks forward to fresh farmed vegetables during the summer months, as a CSA member.
